Dear Substitute Teacher,

Please do not call Payroll about Pay for snow days, without first reading the following information and paying close attention to the paydays indicated. Everyone will be paid, if entitled to pay. We just need your patience and cooperation.

If you were scheduled to work five days prior to the  first snow day on January 15, 2026, you should have been paid for that day in the paycheck with the week ending  date of 1/24/2026.

If you were scheduled to work five days prior to the second snow day on January 20, you will be paid in the next paycheck on Feb. 7.

If you were scheduled to work five days prior to the snow day or two remote learning days during the week of  January 26-30, you will be be paid in the Feb. 7 check or  Feb. 21 check.

The Sub Desk is working very hard to get everyone paid for the snow days, we are finally getting paid for. However, they have to go through 900 substitute teacher names to determine who worked and whether they were scheduled for work five days prior to that day, as per our contract. So it’s a time consuming process and your patience and cooperation is appreciated.

In addition, The following message was sent from Patrick Burke, Human Resources:

Good Afternoon,

In the event of future remote workdays we recommend the following for substitutes:

  • Substitute covering multiple day assignments:
    • Speak with administrators at the building for the best way to join remotely
  • Substitutes covering day-to-day assignments
    • Email administrators the morning of the remote day and ask if you can assist remotely.  All administrators can be found on the Buffalo Schools website under schools then clicking on the school they are assigned to work at.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the above email.

In Solidarity,

Chris Salamone, vice president, SUB
