It is imperative that we get as many substitutes as we can, to the ratification meeting Oct. 20 for the tentative contract agreement between Substitutes United of Buffalo and the Buffalo Public School District.
A show of force will let the District know we mean business! Whether the agreement passes or fails ratification we need to let the District know the contract is important to us and we will continue to fight for the pay, benefits and rights we feel we are entitled to!
Details of the tentative agreement will be released and explained prior to the vote, by members of the SUB Negotiations Committee. Members will have time to ask questions before voting by secret ballot.
If the tentative contract agreement is approved by the membership, it goes back to the District Negotiating Team who will submit it to the Board of Education for ratification.
If both sides ratify the plan, we have a contract. If either side votes against the plan, we go back to the negotiations table. If this happens, we could lose some of the gains obtained in the tentative agreement.
