It will be a busy day for union members Saturday, October 18, with events beginning at 9 a.m. and running concurrently throughout the day.The day begins with the annual Making Strides for Breast Cancer annual walk in Buffalo Harbor State Park, 1111 Fuhrman Blvd. All walkers are expected to register and make a donation. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and walkers can register at the NYSUT tent. The walk begins at 9 a.m. and should be complete by 11 a.m. SUB members who register to walk with NYSUT will receive a SUB t-shirt.
After the walk, a No Kings Day of Action Rally, will be held 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Niagara Square, 65 Niagara Square, Buffalo, to protest the Trump Administration’s abuse of power, including attacks on education and immigration.
Immediately following the rally, the Buffalo Teachers Federation will hold a labor walk, beginning at its office on Porter and Niagara streets, Buffalo. During the walk, participants will knock on doors to urge residents of the West District to support and vote for Board of Education Member Jennifer Mecozzi, who is running for re-election. Mecozzi, has been an ally of teachers and substitutes since joining the Board and is a voice for us with the District.
