2025 Election Results Correction

The results of the 2025 annual election of the  Substitutes United of Buffalo (SUB), Executive Committee, were miscounted and were incorrectly reported.

A total of 28 ballots were cast in the election, held Sept. 24 in the Merriweather Library. The ballots were counted by the election committee and the final report was  given by President Robert Jenkins.

The election was held for the following positions: vice president, secretary, and, five delegates, four to serve 2-year terms and one to serve a one-year term.

The vice president and secretary positions were unopposed. Vice President Chris Salamone retained her seat for a two year term and Brendalynn Jackson, a Delegate, took the secretary position for a two year post.

Unfortunately, several days after the election Brendalynn resigned from her post. Diana Cooke, a retired Buffalo teacher, was appointed secretary by President Jenkins

There were eight candidates for the five delegate positions. After the elections, President Jenkins declared the following results:

                            Sherrell Cooper            24 votes

                            Matthew Smith              20 votes

                            Maria Baker                  19 votes

                            Marisa Robinson          18 votes

                            Turley Simpson             13 votes

The next day, before filing the paperwork, the ballots were recounted and it was discovered that the tallies were inaccurate and the results miscalculated.

The new tally resulted in the following results and winners. The top four vote-getters will serve 2 years and the fifth will serve for one year.

                            Matthew Smith                19 votes

                            Maria Baker                     19 votes

                            Marisa Robinson             19 Votes

                            Monohar Prabhu           19 votes

                            Sherrell Cooper                17 votes

We apologize for the mistake, especially to our candidates affected by the results.
