Several members of the Substitutes United Community Involvement Committee thought it was time to get a new logo, Some felt the old logo – SU/B inside an oval – conjured up visions of sandwiches, instead of schools, children and education.
After some discussion, it was decided to ask our students what they envisioned when the name Substitutes United of Buffalo was brought up. The result was an impromptu contest and two winning designs.
SUB Delegate LaGuardia Billingslea, had her students at Native American Magnet School, (NAMS) , #19 create pictures of what should represent the substitutes.
The winning designs were submitted by Mila Fadel, a fourth grader and Mariah Grayson, 7th grade. They each received a framed certificate of appreciation and a $25 Amazon gift card. And, their designs were immortalized on a banner to be displayed at all SUB events, and t-shirts.
Congratulations to the students and Delegate Billingslea for motivating her students.
