Yesterday, July 30, 2024, at the SUB Executive Counsel meeting, I officially resigned as Vice
President of Substitutes United/Buffalo. I am doing so because I feel it is my time to leave.
Serving as an elected representative for SU/B for the last nine years has been an HONOR.
2023-2024 was the 39th year I have been a Teacher and then a Substitute Teacher for the
Buffalo Public Schools. 38 of those years I have been an elected Union Representative for the
BTF and SUB. I will continue Substitute Teaching and will continue to support SU/B and its
leadership.
Since there is one more year left of my term, President Shirley Sapp-Burgess has appointed
Christine Salamone (appointed Delegate) as VP for the remainder.
Chris is an experienced Union Representative working for the BTF and NYSUT for decades. I
feel confident that Chris will do an excellent job replacing me and I have offered to help her in
any way.
This was not an easy decision for me. I thought long and hard about ending service to my
cherished members of SUB. I will miss representing and connecting with each of you.
